Yokogawa Test & Measurement Launches WT1500 Power Analyzer for Direct 2000V DC Measurement Without High-Voltage Dividers

Yokogawa Test & Measurement has released the WT1500, a four-channel power analyzer capable of direct 2000V DC voltage measurement without high-voltage dividers. With an accuracy of ±0.038%, it is designed for testing electric vehicles, energy storage systems, and renewable energy applications.

Direct High-Voltage Measurement Simplifies Testing

Yokogawa Test & Measurement announced the launch of the WT1500 power analyzer on July 24. As the first product in the company’s WT series capable of directly measuring 2000V DC voltage, the WT1500 eliminates the need for traditional high-voltage dividers. This advancement simplifies test setups and reduces measurement errors introduced by dividers, making it ideal for the development and validation of electric vehicles, energy storage systems, and renewable energy power conversion equipment.

The WT1500 features two types of input elements: the High Voltage (HV) element, which measures up to 2000V DC and signals up to 300 kHz, is tailored for power conversion systems (PCS) and energy storage systems (ESS). The Wide Bandwidth (WB) element supports voltages up to 1000V and frequencies as high as 2 MHz, specifically designed for modern electric vehicle motors. Both elements share sensor inputs, allowing flexible mixed configurations on a single unit.

Industry-Leading Accuracy and Scalability

The WT1500 delivers a total power accuracy of ±0.038% for DC and 50/60 Hz AC, with a low power factor accuracy of ±0.07% of apparent power. Yokogawa Test & Measurement states that these are the best DC measurement figures in the WT series. The analyzer supports four power measurements and four motor evaluations simultaneously, featuring built-in encoder and resolver signal inputs. This enables engineers to conduct motor efficiency tests without additional equipment, addressing the cumbersome process of synchronizing separate measurements via computer.

The WT1500 includes IEEE 1588 time synchronization and supports data output via CAN and CAN-FD buses, as well as UDP transmission, facilitating remote control from a PC, external monitor, or tablet. For expanded measurement channels, up to five WT1500 units can be synchronized, providing 20-channel power measurement with one unit acting as the main controller. Yokogawa Test & Measurement notes that multi-unit synchronization capabilities will be further enhanced in a future firmware update.

Accessories Support High-Voltage and High-Current Applications

The WT1500 offers four current input terminals and is compatible with several newly released current sensor accessories. These include the CT Series solid-core adapter (60A to 2000A, AC/DC compatible), the CT1000S split-core adapter (1000A, AC/DC compatible), and AC-only current clamp probes rated at 50A and 200A. These accessories enhance the WT1500’s flexibility in high-voltage and high-current applications, meeting diverse testing requirements.

Designed in a 2U, 19-inch rack-mountable form factor, the WT1500 integrates seamlessly into standard test benches and computer-controlled environments. It is well-suited for the development and validation of high-voltage systems in electric vehicles, energy storage, and renewable energy sectors. The ability to directly measure 2000V DC voltage eliminates the additional costs, complex wiring, and potential errors associated with traditional high-voltage dividers, offering a more precise and efficient solution for high-voltage power analysis.
