Acquisition of Prevalon Energy Expands Energy Storage Technology Portfolio
Energy solutions provider Nextpower announced on July 27 the completion of its acquisition of U.S.-based large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) company Prevalon Energy. The deal marks an expansion of Nextpower’s service scope from solar energy solutions to large-scale energy storage, energy management software, and power control technology. The acquisition grants Nextpower access to Prevalon Energy’s global deployment of over 6 GWh of energy storage systems, bolstering its competitiveness in markets such as AI data centers, grid-level energy storage, and hybrid power plants.
Prevalon Energy specializes in large-scale battery energy storage systems, power stabilization solutions, and lifecycle operation and maintenance services. To date, it has deployed over 6 GWh of energy storage systems across public utilities, industrial and commercial sectors, and grid ancillary services. Dan Shugar, CEO of Nextpower, stated that reliable energy storage systems have become a core component of critical energy infrastructure, playing an indispensable role in the construction of AI data centers and large-scale power facilities. He noted that Prevalon Energy’s technology and deployment experience will help Nextpower more effectively serve utility-scale customers and data center developers.
Following the acquisition, Nextpower’s service scope will extend from the design and construction of solar power plants to the integration of energy storage systems, development of energy management software, power control, and long-term operation and maintenance services, forming a one-stop integrated energy platform. Shugar emphasized that global electricity demand continues to rise, and public utilities, power generation companies, data center developers, and grid operators all require partners capable of rapidly providing reliable and dispatchable power. Leveraging its existing large-scale solar deployment capabilities and Prevalon Energy’s energy storage technology, Nextpower will be positioned to capture growth opportunities in both the solar and energy storage markets simultaneously.
