Pricing and Powertrain Configurations
Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng announced on July 21 that its seven-seat luxury MPV, the X9, is now available for order in Australia, offering two powertrain options. The entry-level X9 two-wheel-drive (2WD) variant is priced at AUD 89,900 (excluding on-road costs), while the all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant is priced at AUD 109,900 (excluding on-road costs).
The X9 2WD is equipped with a 94.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, delivering a WLTP-rated range of 535 km. The AWD variant features a 110 kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) battery, extending the range to 580 km. Both models support DC fast charging at up to 542 kW, with Xpeng stating that the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in as little as 12 minutes. Additionally, the X9 comes standard with 11 kW AC charging and 6 kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality.
Spacious Interior and Premium Features
With all seven seats occupied, the X9 still offers a 721-litre boot capacity. Xpeng claims the vehicle can accommodate seven passengers along with seven 50 cm carry-on suitcases. The second and third rows feature a 60/40 split-folding design, allowing flexible seating configurations for four, five, six, or seven passengers. With the seats folded, the maximum cargo space expands to 2,554 litres.
The interior includes a 21.4-inch rear entertainment display, a premium 27-speaker audio system, and a voice-controlled in-car refrigerator. The AWD variant also features rear-wheel steering with up to 5 degrees of control, effectively reducing the vehicle’s turning radius. Xpeng highlights that the X9 supports unlimited over-the-air (OTA) software updates and provides lifetime connectivity for maps and core vehicle software, along with 12 months of unlimited data for entertainment services.
Intelligent Driver-Assistance System
The X9 is equipped with XPILOT, Xpeng’s intelligent driver-assistance system, powered by the company’s in-house developed Turing AI chip. The system integrates 12 cameras, 7 millimetre-wave radars, and 11 ultrasonic sensors, enabling features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-centring assistance, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot detection. For parking assistance, the X9 offers automated parking, remote parking, and automatic departure from parking spaces, complemented by a 360-degree surround-view camera and a transparent chassis view to enhance safety and convenience.
Warranty and Sales Information
Xpeng ANZ announced that eligible vehicles sold from June 1, 2026, will be covered under a manufacturer warranty, including the entire X9 lineup. The X9 is now available for order, offering six exterior colour options and three interior trims. Consumers can place orders through authorised dealers across Australia. Xpeng stated that deliveries of the X9 will commence shortly, though no specific date has been provided.
