Company-Owned EV Fleet Expands into Europe

Vietnamese electric taxi brand Green SM officially launched its first European operation in Copenhagen, Denmark, on July 31, deploying a company-owned fleet of VinFast VF 6 and VF 8 electric SUVs. This milestone marks Green SM’s entry into the European market. Backed by Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup, Green SM previously operated in five countries—Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines, and India—with Copenhagen serving as its first European outpost.

Unlike traditional ride-hailing platforms, Green SM adopts a company-owned fleet and driver management model, directly overseeing vehicle maintenance, driver training, and service quality control. Green SM states that this model allows it to maintain control over every aspect, from vehicle upkeep to passenger experience, ensuring consistency and reliability. All drivers undergo professional training in road safety, customer service, operational procedures, and electric vehicle usage before hitting the road.

New User Incentives Encourage Trial

To encourage Copenhagen residents to experience its electric taxi service, Green SM is offering new users five vouchers for a 25% discount on rides, with a maximum discount of 100 Danish kroner (~$16) per trip. The promotion will run until September 30. Passengers can book and pay for rides through Green SM’s official app, which displays the fare before the trip is confirmed, ensuring price transparency.

A Green SM spokesperson said that Copenhagen, a pioneer in sustainable transportation, is the ideal location to test whether its company-owned electric taxi model can adapt to the European market. The company will take a measured approach to expansion, prioritizing compliance with Danish regulations and gradually establishing its local operations. While Green SM has not disclosed the exact size of its Copenhagen fleet, it emphasized a focus on localized operations and has no immediate plans to expand to other European cities.

Building Market Trust Through Safety and Professionalism

Green SM aims to become a trusted mobility partner by providing safe, professional, and fully electric transportation services. The company believes that if it can establish a strong reputation, business growth will follow naturally. In entering Europe, Green SM is not only introducing VinFast electric vehicles but also bringing its operational experience from Asia, including vehicle management, driver training, and digital booking systems.

The Copenhagen municipal government has long promoted low-carbon transportation policies, and Green SM’s electric taxi service could become a new option for sustainable mobility in the city. As electric vehicle adoption continues to rise, whether Green SM’s self-operated model can gain a foothold in the European market will be closely watched. The service is now officially available, and residents can book rides through the app.
