On July 19, Geely Auto Group officially unveiled its '16-in-1 Intelligent E-Drive' system, an 800-volt electric powertrain co-developed by Geely Automobile Research Institute and InfiMotion. Under the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) standard, the system achieved an overall efficiency of 93.8%, setting a new benchmark for electric vehicle powertrain efficiency. Li Chuanhai, Vice President of Geely Group and President of Geely Automobile Research Institute, stated that this system strengthens Geely’s in-house capabilities in electric powertrain development and will deliver more efficient, safer, and more reliable power solutions for new energy vehicles.
The system integrates 16 traditionally separate components into a single unit, weighing only 75 kilograms (165 pounds). By simplifying the power transmission path and employing intelligent power optimization technology, it effectively reduces energy loss. When equipped in the Geely TT model, the system recorded an energy consumption of just 8.20 kWh per 100 kilometers during the Qinghai Lake challenge, breaking the Guinness World Record for the lowest energy consumption by a production battery-electric sedan circumnavigating Qinghai Lake. The 360-kilometer route around Qinghai Lake features an altitude difference of over 2,000 meters, posing a rigorous test for energy consumption control and powertrain stability in electric vehicles.
The 16-in-1 Intelligent E-Drive supports a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive configuration, delivering a combined output of 425 kW (570 horsepower) and enabling the Geely TT to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. The system utilizes integrated control and AI-assisted torque management to enhance power response speed and torque output precision. Additionally, its 54-channel directional cooling technology reduces the maximum motor temperature by up to 15°C, ensuring thermal stability under high-load conditions. The Geely TT also set a Guinness World Record for the longest continuous twin-vehicle drift on a wet surface, covering over 46 kilometers, demonstrating the system’s performance consistency under extreme conditions.
