EVgo Partners with Tesla to Deploy V4 Superchargers
U.S. charging operator EVgo has announced a partnership agreement with Tesla to install Tesla’s latest V4 Superchargers at its charging stations. Construction is set to begin in the third quarter of this year, with the first site expected to be completed by the end of 2026. This collaboration will enable EVgo stations to support both Tesla’s NACS and the U.S. mainstream CCS1 charging standards, integrating them into Tesla’s vehicle navigation system and the EVgo app to enhance convenience and visibility.
The Tesla V4 Supercharger delivers a maximum charging power of 500 kW and supports a voltage range of 400 to 1,000 volts, allowing electric vehicles to gain approximately 300 kilometers of range in just 15 minutes. The EVgo version of the V4 Supercharger features the Magic Dock, an integrated adapter that automatically switches between NACS and CCS1 standards, eliminating the need for drivers to carry separate adapters. Additionally, the charging cable has been extended to accommodate various EV designs and charging port locations, improving usability.
Charging Demand Grows Despite Market Slowdown as Tesla Expands Equipment Supply
While the U.S. electric vehicle market has experienced a slowdown in sales growth in recent years, EVgo’s charging demand has surged sevenfold over the past three years. Industry analysts note that this reflects the cumulative growth in EV adoption, which continues to drive charging demand even as new vehicle sales decelerate. Existing EV owners are increasingly relying on charging infrastructure, maintaining upward usage trends. EVgo’s CEO stated that the partnership with Tesla will expand the charging network’s coverage and enhance station versatility, attracting a broader range of EV users.
