Taiwan’s electric vehicle (EV) charging ecosystem has reached a major milestone. TAIL TePower (TAIL) announced today that it has allied with 10 charging operators—including EVOASIS, StarCharger, CMC iCharging, Yunzhuang Technology, Chuanjiu Technology, District Fast Charging EV Station, HiEV, Gorilla, EVEZ, and Energy Station—to jointly create Taiwan’s largest cross-brand interoperable charging network. This collaboration will interconnect up to 60% of Taiwan’s DC fast chargers. TAIL TePower Chairman Chung Ping-li stated that this initiative will eliminate the inconvenience of repeatedly downloading apps and registering payment methods, removing the final barrier to EV adoption.
TAIL TePower currently operates 143 charging stations across Taiwan, with over 420 DC fast chargers and more than 100,000 members, providing a solid foundation for cross-brand cooperation. At the press conference, Chung noted that as the deployment of charging stations becomes increasingly comprehensive, the pain points for EV owners have shifted from “not being able to find a station” to “app operation fatigue.” He emphasized that the era of charging operators working in isolation is over. This alliance will integrate resources and connect systems, enabling EV owners to “charge at any station, regardless of the brand or operator,” realizing the core vision of the 'Charging Anywhere Plan.'
According to TAIL TePower’s official statement, this collaboration not only interconnects 60% of Taiwan’s DC fast chargers but also marks a new phase of resource sharing in Taiwan’s charging industry. Chung stated that in the future, EV owners will only need a single platform to charge across different stations, eliminating the hassle of relearning interfaces every time they switch operators. He described cross-network interoperability as making charging “as natural as breathing” and expressed hope that removing these pain points will boost public confidence in switching to EVs, further expanding Taiwan’s EV market.
TAIL TePower emphasized that this alliance is a key milestone for the 'Charging Anywhere Plan' and pledged to continue promoting more cross-brand and cross-sector collaborations to build a more comprehensive charging network. However, TAIL TePower has not yet disclosed the name or launch timeline of the single platform, nor has it provided details on the statistical basis for the 60% DC fast charger figure. Additionally, the specific roles of partners in cross-brand interoperability and technical details remain undisclosed.
The 10 partners in this alliance include well-known charging service providers such as StarCharger and CMC iCharging. TAIL TePower stated that it will continue to optimize the charging ecosystem with an open attitude, making charging services more intuitive and convenient. For EV owners, if this collaboration successfully implements cross-station charging via a single platform, it will significantly simplify the charging process and reduce operational inconveniences. Currently, there are no real-world examples or data on EV owners using cross-brand charging, and the future effectiveness remains to be observed.
