Spanish electric vehicle charging equipment provider Wallbox and Saudi-based startup Turning Point Energy have completed the installation of over 10,000 EV chargers across Saudi Arabia since their partnership began in 2022. This achievement highlights the rapid expansion of Saudi Arabia’s electric transportation infrastructure, providing critical support for the country’s energy transition and transportation upgrades.

Headquartered in Barcelona, Wallbox offers both alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) charging solutions, which are deployed in Saudi Arabia through Turning Point Energy’s official distribution, installation, and maintenance network. As Wallbox’s local partner, Turning Point Energy is responsible for the sale, installation, and long-term maintenance of the charging equipment, ensuring the stable operation of the charging network.

Advancing the EV Ecosystem

Saudi Arabia has been actively promoting the development of the electric vehicle industry in recent years, with the improvement of charging infrastructure seen as a key component. Ignasi Alastuey, Chief Business Officer at Wallbox, stated that Saudi Arabia is making substantial investments in electric mobility and charging networks to achieve its transportation and energy transition goals. Through collaboration with Turning Point Energy, Wallbox has not only accelerated the expansion of Saudi Arabia’s charging network but also ensured that installation and service standards meet international benchmarks.

Turning Point Energy’s deployment efforts are closely aligned with Saudi Arabia’s electric vehicle brands, including Chinese automaker BYD and U.S. electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid. These partnership agreements further integrate charging infrastructure with the EV ecosystem, providing consumers with more comprehensive charging services.

Although Saudi Arabia has long relied on the oil industry as its economic backbone, the country has been actively pursuing economic diversification in recent years, with the development of EV charging networks emerging as a key strategy.
