New Service Body Integrates Professional Functionality to Lower Barriers for Electrification

On July 30, RIZON unveiled a new service combo body designed specifically for its electric trucks. This body combines lockable tool storage with an open cargo bed and can be customized with professional equipment such as cranes, ladder racks, generators, lift gates, and work lighting to meet the operational needs of various vocational fleets.

Alex Voets, General Manager of RIZON USA, stated that commercial vehicle customers have been hesitant about electrification due to concerns over having to change their existing workflows. The design of this service combo body focuses on "zero change," transferring the functionality of traditional diesel trucks directly onto a zero-emission chassis, enabling fleets to adopt electric vehicles without adjusting their operational processes.

Vehicle Specifications and Charging Capabilities with Range Up to 160 Miles

RIZON currently offers four to five medium-duty electric truck models, with gross vehicle weights ranging from 15,995 to 18,850 pounds. The range varies by configuration: the M-size variant with two battery packs offers 110 miles of range, while the L-size variant with three battery packs can achieve up to 160 miles. For charging, the trucks support Level 2 AC charging and CCS1 DC fast charging, accommodating diverse charging environments.

These electric trucks are manufactured in partnership with a global OEM that has decades of commercial vehicle expertise and over 5 million miles of electric driving experience. However, RIZON has not disclosed the specific name or production location of its partner.

Service Combo Body Emphasizes Customization to Meet Diverse Vocational Needs

The newly launched service combo body features a highly customizable design, allowing configurations tailored to different vocational requirements. The interior layout integrates secure tool storage with a large cargo bed, while the exterior can be equipped with various professional accessories, including cranes, ladder rack systems, generators, and LED work lights. RIZON states that this body can be widely applied across various vocational fleets but has not specified target industries or customer segments.

At present, RIZON has not released details regarding the payload capacity, pricing, or delivery timeline for the service combo body. The company has begun accepting orders but has not disclosed the regions where the product will be available.

Eligible for Incentive Programs in California and Washington with Vouchers Up to $130,000

RIZON’s electric trucks qualify for zero-emission vehicle incentive programs in California and Washington. The California Air Resources Board’s Clean Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP) and Washington State Department of Ecology’s Zero-Emission Incentive Program (WAZIP) both offer point-of-sale vouchers ranging from $60,000 to $130,000. These incentives significantly reduce the upfront costs for fleets, though RIZON has not clarified whether the service combo body is included in the voucher eligibility.

Voets emphasized that the introduction of this service combo body directly addresses the practical needs of commercial vehicle customers transitioning to electrification. By preserving the functionality of traditional trucks, RIZON aims to help more vocational fleets transition smoothly to zero-emission transportation solutions without compromising operational efficiency.
