Integrates 24 Charging Networks Across the United States and Canada
On August 18, Octopus Energy officially launched the free app Octopus Charge in North America, integrating 211,221 electric vehicle chargers across the United States and Canada. The app aims to resolve long-standing inconveniences faced by EV drivers, including the need to download multiple apps to access different charging networks. Octopus Charge has partnered with 24 charging network providers, including major brands such as ChargePoint, EVgo, Blink, bp pulse, Shell Recharge, FLO, EV Connect, and Canada’s Circuit Électrique.
The app is available on both iOS and Android platforms, offering search functionality by location or ZIP code, with filters for charging speed, connector type, or network provider. Additionally, Octopus Charge displays real-time charger availability, compatibility, charging speeds, pricing, and nearby amenities. It also includes an EV-specific route planner, enabling drivers to conveniently map their journeys.
Free to Join with No Price Markup, Streamlining the Charging Process
Octopus Energy emphasizes that joining Octopus Charge is completely free and does not involve any markup on the per-kWh pricing set by charging networks. Nick Chaset, CEO of Octopus Energy US, stated, 'Driving electric should be simple, wherever the journey leads. Drivers shouldn’t have to juggle multiple apps and accounts just to charge their cars. By consolidating public charging into a unified experience, Octopus Charge gives drivers the confidence to hit the road, making charging one less thing they have to think about while helping remove another barrier to EV adoption.'
