Automotive-Grade Engineering Designed for Residential Charging Needs
Electric vehicle charging equipment manufacturer Lectron launched its new Nexus line of Level 2 home EV chargers on July 31, emphasizing the use of automotive industry-level engineering and validation standards to guarantee reliability under prolonged electrical loads, daily repeated use, and outdoor environmental conditions. The Nexus series offers four configurations, including hardwired and portable models, and has passed four UL safety certifications, making it suitable for residential charging needs in the North American market.
Lectron CEO Christopher Maiwald stated that the design of the Nexus chargers reflects the company’s engineering and validation standards accumulated through its original equipment manufacturer (OEM) programs and charging hardware development. The product is intended to deliver high-reliability performance in everyday residential charging environments. Internally, the Nexus chargers utilize automotive-grade power delivery architecture, printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) layout, and thermal management systems to ensure stable operation under various conditions.
The Nexus series underwent rigorous internal validation testing, including thermal cycling from -22°F to 122°F, sustained load operation at rated amperage, and connection cycle testing exceeding 10,000 insertions, along with impact testing. These measures ensure long-term durability. All models are equipped with a 23-foot 7 AWG cable and feature IP66-rated enclosures, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation.
