Strong Performance in Europe: Sales Leadership in 12 Countries

The Kia PV5 electric van quickly established itself as the leading model in the small electric light commercial vehicle (e-LCV) market after its launch in Europe and the UK at the end of 2025. Data from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) for the first half of 2026 showed that the PV5 held a 37% market share in Europe’s small (C-segment) electric van market, making it the best-selling model in this segment. ACEA’s statistics further revealed that the PV5 topped sales charts in 12 European countries, including Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Germany, the UK, Ireland, and Finland. In Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden, the PV5 outsold all other vans regardless of powertrain, securing the top spot in overall sales.

In the UK, the PV5 led the small electric van segment with 3,361 units sold in the first half of 2026, while in Germany, it ranked second with 2,206 units. The PV5’s market share exceeded 50% in several countries, reaching 63% in Denmark, 62% in Ireland, 59% in Sweden, 58% in Finland, and 54% in the UK. Sjoerd Knipping, Chief Operating Officer of Kia Europe, stated, "The response to the PV5 in Europe has far exceeded expectations, not only in terms of sales but also in delivering new value to mobility services, meeting customers’ demands for high-performance electric commercial vehicles."

Kia sold 13,166 PV5 units in Europe during the first six months of 2026, demonstrating strong market demand. ACEA’s data confirmed that the PV5 has become one of the preferred choices in Europe and the UK’s small electric van market, with its influence continuing to grow.

UK Market Milestone: July Sales Exceed 1,000 Units

Kia’s performance in the UK market was particularly notable. In July 2026, Kia achieved a record by selling over 1,000 electric vans in a single month for the first time, with a total of 1,019 units, including 784 PV5 Cargo and 235 PV5 Passenger models. This milestone marked the first time Kia had surpassed 1,000 monthly electric van sales in the UK, further solidifying its position in the country’s electric commercial vehicle market. Paul Philpott, President and CEO of Kia UK, commented, "With the delivery of new EV2 models and the continued growth of PV5 sales, Kia’s momentum in the second half of 2026 is expected to strengthen, maintaining robust growth."

In the first seven months of 2026, Kia registered 3,239 PV5 Cargo and 1,141 PV5 Passenger units in the UK. Strong demand propelled Kia to third place in the UK’s electric light commercial vehicle market. In July alone, Kia became the best-selling electric vehicle brand in the UK with 3,731 registrations, ranking second overall in the market. This achievement not only reflected the PV5’s popularity in the UK but also highlighted Kia’s growing competitiveness in the electric vehicle sector.

The PV5’s success in the UK was partly attributed to its diverse product lineup. Currently, the PV5 is available in PV5 Passenger, PV5 Cargo, and PV5 Chassis variants, with plans to introduce a 7-seater (2-2-3 configuration), PV5 Prime, and PV5 Cargo High Roof models in the near future. These new variants will cater to a broader range of customer needs, reinforcing Kia’s leadership in the UK market.

Product Advantages and Range Capability: Setting a Guinness World Record

The Kia PV5 offers several notable advantages in its design. Compared to the extended Ford Transit Connect, the PV5 provides 20% more cargo space and a 10% increase in payload capacity, meeting customers’ demands for larger volume and higher load capacity. This design advantage has set the PV5 apart in the competitive small electric van market, making it a top choice for customers.

The PV5 Cargo set a Guinness World Record in October 2025 by driving 693.38 km (430.84 miles) on a single charge, showcasing its exceptional range capability. This record not only demonstrated the PV5’s reliability in real-world use but also provided customers with extended driving range assurance, further enhancing the product’s market competitiveness. The PV5’s range performance makes it suitable for various applications, including long-distance transportation and urban delivery, meeting the needs of different industries.

Future Plans and Market Outlook

Kia plans to expand its electric commercial vehicle lineup in the coming years. According to its roadmap, Kia will introduce the larger PV7 electric van in 2027 and the PV9 by 2030. Kia aims to sell 232,000 purpose-built electric vehicles (PBVs) by the end of 2030, a target that reflects its long-term strategy in the electric commercial vehicle market and its confidence in future market growth.

The success of the PV5 has not only strengthened Kia’s leadership in the electric van market but also boosted its influence in the broader electric vehicle sector. With the continued expansion of its product lineup and growing market demand, Kia’s competitiveness in Europe and the UK is expected to rise further. Kia’s electric commercial vehicle strategy will provide customers with more diverse options and drive the continued development of the electric commercial vehicle market.
