Starlink Integration Enables High-Speed Connectivity in Cybercab
On August 16, Tesla revealed the first Cybercab autonomous taxi equipped with Starlink satellite internet via a social media post, marking the debut of low-Earth orbit satellite communication in autonomous ride services. The Starlink Mini hardware is installed at the rear of the vehicle, replacing the traditional rear windshield, and coated in Cybercab’s signature gold color to blend seamlessly with the vehicle’s design. Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated that this integration will allow passengers to enjoy 4K live sports, movies, games, and remote work capabilities, significantly enhancing the entertainment and productivity features of the autonomous taxi.
Developed by SpaceX, Starlink delivers global high-speed internet through a network of low-Earth orbit satellites and has been deployed in aviation, maritime, and recreational vehicles in recent years. Tesla announced that all future Cybercab models will come standard with Starlink hardware, though the exact timeline for this rollout has not been disclosed. Production of the Cybercab began in April 2026, and the vehicles are already operational in multiple U.S. cities.
EPA Documents Reveal Cybercab’s Range and Lightweight Advantages
Recent certification documents released by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) confirm that the Cybercab is equipped with a 48 kWh battery pack and has a kerb weight of just 1,412 kilograms, making it Tesla’s lightest model to date while delivering a range exceeding 600 kilometers. A Tesla engineer disclosed that the Cybercab has 50% fewer parts than the Model 3, resulting in a weight reduction of approximately 400 kilograms, which improves energy efficiency and manufacturing cost control.
