On July 17, 2026, Micron Technology announced that it has signed strategic customer agreements (SCAs) with seven major global automotive Tier 1 suppliers and ecosystem partners, including Qualcomm, Visteon, HARMAN, JOYNEXT, DENSO, Astemo, and Hyundai Mobis. These agreements are designed to provide long-term, stable memory and storage solutions for the automotive industry, covering key technology areas such as in-vehicle infotainment systems, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) connectivity. According to Micron Technology, the automotive industry features product lifecycles spanning several years and imposes extremely stringent validation standards for memory and storage components, making supply chain stability crucial for large-scale production.
Strategic Agreements Enhance Supply Chain Resilience and Technology Investment Planning
Micron Technology stated that these strategic customer agreements will provide long-term supply assurances for its partners while improving predictability in production planning and technology investments through price and supply volume certainty. Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra, commenting on the collaboration, noted that as the automotive industry advances toward AI-driven and software-defined vehicles (SDVs), memory and storage technologies have become core elements in delivering consumer tech experiences. He emphasized that ecosystem collaboration will determine the pace of innovation and market competitiveness, with these agreements offering partners the necessary technical support and supply assurances.
Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon also highlighted that software-defined vehicles rely on the deep integration of high-performance computing and memory technologies, with resilient supply chains being key to enabling intuitive and personalized digital cockpit experiences. HARMAN CEO Christian Sobottka further pointed out that stable supply chains ensure continuous innovation and upgrades in vehicle systems while mitigating risks associated with supply disruptions. Hyundai Mobis President Lee Kyu-sik and Visteon CEO Sachin Lawande jointly stressed that long-term technology planning and a stable supply ecosystem are foundational to advancing ADAS and next-generation in-vehicle connectivity technologies.
