Fleet Charging Service Launches in UK and Germany

Mercedes-Benz and ChargePoint, a global leader in charging solutions, announced on August 10 the launch of a new fleet charging service designed to provide business customers with a fully integrated solution from site planning and hardware installation to operational maintenance. The service will first roll out in the UK and Germany, with plans to expand to additional markets later in 2026.

Under the partnership, Mercedes-Benz business customers will gain access to ChargePoint’s AC and DC charging hardware, smart energy management systems, and fleet-specific charging software. ChargePoint will oversee site assessments, infrastructure planning, professional installation, and ongoing technical support to ensure a smooth transition to electric fleets for corporate customers.

Integrated Charging Ecosystem Reduces Operational Costs

Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint, stated that the collaboration delivers a seamless, comprehensive charging experience for business customers, effectively lowering the total cost of ownership while meeting increasingly stringent operational demands. He emphasized that the complete charging solution enables businesses to manage their charging infrastructure more efficiently, enhancing overall operational performance.

Nico Dettmer, Global Head of Mercedes-Benz Charging Solutions, noted that the charging needs of corporate fleets have evolved beyond traditional vehicles. The workplace charging offering addresses a critical gap in the existing charging ecosystem, complementing home and public charging infrastructure. The service covers company cars and light- to medium-duty vans, providing businesses with a more holistic charging solution.

Professional Support Streamlines Transition to Electric Fleets

For Mercedes-Benz business customers, the service’s primary advantage lies in its end-to-end professional support. ChargePoint will deploy expert teams to conduct initial site assessments, design tailored charging infrastructure based on specific business needs, and provide professional installation services. Ongoing operational maintenance and technical support will also be managed by ChargePoint, eliminating the need for businesses to coordinate with multiple vendors and significantly reducing the complexity and time required for transition.

The solution is specifically designed for corporate vehicles and light- to medium-duty vans, leveraging smart energy management systems and fleet charging software to optimize charging schedules and energy efficiency. ChargePoint highlighted that its charging solutions have been validated across multiple global markets, and this partnership with Mercedes-Benz will further solidify its leadership in the corporate charging sector.

Expansion Plans Underway as Market Demand Grows

The service is now officially available in the UK and Germany, with ChargePoint and Mercedes-Benz planning to expand to other markets within 2026, though specific countries and timelines have not yet been disclosed. As the global shift toward electric corporate fleets accelerates, the integration and efficiency of charging infrastructure have become key factors in maintaining competitive advantage.

The collaboration reflects a growing trend of closer alliances between automakers and charging service providers, driven by the urgent demand for integrated charging solutions. Industry observers suggest that as more businesses accelerate their transition to electric fleets, similar partnerships may become a defining trend, further driving the adoption of electric vehicles in the commercial sector. For Mercedes-Benz business customers, the service simplifies the deployment and management of charging infrastructure, providing a robust foundation for their electric transition.
