PV5 Leads European Market with Over 50% Market Share in Multiple Countries
Kia’s PV5 electric van, launched last year, has become the leading model in the C-segment electric van market across Europe and the UK. According to the latest data released by Kia, in the first half of 2026, the PV5 accounted for over 50% of C-segment electric van sales in five countries: Denmark, Ireland, Sweden, Finland, and the UK. Specifically, its market share reached 63% in Denmark, 62% in Ireland, 59% in Sweden, 58% in Finland, and 54% in the UK.
The PV5 is currently available in multiple variants, including standard passenger and cargo versions. Kia plans to further expand its lineup with new models, including a 7-seater (2-2-3 seating configuration), a Luxury Prime version, and a high-roof cargo variant to meet diverse commercial and personal needs.
PV7 Prototype Revealed with Noticeably Larger Dimensions Than PV5
Kia’s second electric van, the PV7, was recently spotted during public road testing with less camouflage than before, revealing some of its exterior details. As a larger version of the PV5, the PV7 is expected to launch in 2027, further expanding Kia’s product lineup in the electric commercial vehicle market.
Based on the data from the PV7 Concept displayed at CES 2024, the PV7 measures 5,270 mm in length, 2,065 mm in width, and 2,120 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,390 mm. In comparison, the PV5 passenger version measures 4,695 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,915 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,995 mm. The PV7’s dimensions show a significant increase over the PV5, with length extended by 575 mm, width by 170 mm, height by 205 mm, and wheelbase by 395 mm.
The PV7 prototype was recently captured in road tests, where its wheelbase appeared nearly as long as the truck transporting it, further confirming its large size. The PV7 is expected to feature Hyundai’s latest Pleos infotainment system and fleet management software to enhance operational efficiency and user experience for commercial fleets.
Kia Plans Comprehensive Electric Van Lineup with 2030 Sales Target of 232,000 Units
Kia is actively advancing its PBV (Platform Beyond Vehicle) electric van series, with plans to introduce the even larger PV9 in 2029 following the PV7. According to Kia’s strategy, the annual sales target for the PV5, PV7, and PV9 models is set at 232,000 units by 2030, covering a range of sizes and applications for both commercial and personal markets.
While the launch timeline and market positioning for the PV7 remain unclear, its larger dimensions and potential commercial applications are expected to further solidify Kia’s leading position in the European electric van market. Kia has not yet disclosed details regarding the PV7’s target markets, battery range, charging specifications, or pricing, with more information likely to be released closer to its official launch. Similarly, specifications and the launch timeline for the PV9 have not been announced, but Kia has made it clear that it will continue expanding its electric van lineup to meet global demand for electric commercial vehicles.
