Shenzhen-based portable power manufacturer Jackery has launched the HomePower H1000 v2, a 1 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack capable of delivering 1,500 watts of continuous AC power and peak outputs up to 3,000 watts. The unit weighs 23.4 pounds (10.6 kilograms), making it one of the lightest 1 kWh power stations available, according to specifications provided by the company.
LFP Battery Technology Enables Lighter, Longer-Lasting Design
The HomePower H1000 v2 utilizes lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells, a chemistry known for thermal stability and extended lifespan compared to traditional nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) cells. Jackery states the unit will retain 70% of its original capacity after 6,000 charge cycles, which the company equates to more than 16 years of daily use. LFP cells also contribute to the unit's reduced weight, undercutting the portable power industry's typical 25-pound benchmark for 1 kWh capacity.
The power station measures 12.4 x 7.9 x 9.2 inches (31.4 x 20.1 x 23.4 centimeters) and features a flush folding handle for portability. Recharging options include a 1,600-watt AC input that fully restores capacity in approximately 50 minutes when connected to a 120V outlet. For off-grid use, the H1000 v2 can recharge in 3.3 hours using two of Jackery's 200-watt bifacial solar panels, which capture sunlight on both sides to improve efficiency in reflective environments.
CleanTechnica Testing Validates High-Power Performance
CleanTechnica senior editor Kyle Field evaluated the HomePower H1000 v2 using a 1,500-watt heat gun and a Vitamix blender, appliances that drew a combined 2,125 watts during testing. The unit successfully handled the load, exceeding its 1,500-watt continuous power rating for short durations. Field noted that running both appliances simultaneously would deplete the 1 kWh battery in approximately 28 minutes, though the H1000 v2 maintained stable operation during the test.
Additional testing included powering a large refrigerator for extended periods in temperatures exceeding 100°F (38°C). The unit demonstrated consistent performance, with no reported issues during multi-day road tests. Jackery claims the H1000 v2 can support high-draw appliances such as single-burner induction cooktops, a capability supported by the unit's 1,500-watt continuous and 3,000-watt peak power output.
Competitive Pricing and Industry Positioning
The HomePower H1000 v2 retails for $879 but was available for $579 at the time of publication. The pricing reflects Jackery's strategy to balance affordability with advanced features, including LFP battery technology and high-power output. The company, founded in Shenzhen, China, has established itself as a leader in the portable power station market, with the H1000 v2 representing its latest iteration in a series of incremental improvements.
LFP battery technology offers several advantages over NMC cells, including a 20+ year lifespan and enhanced safety due to reduced risk of thermal runaway. These benefits align with broader industry trends toward safer, more durable energy storage solutions for both consumer and professional applications.
