Revoy Raises $41 Million to Accelerate Commercialization of Heavy-Duty Truck Battery Swapping Technology

U.S. startup Revoy (formerly SixWheels) announced on May 28, 2026, that it had completed a $27 million Series A funding round, bringing its total fundraising to $41 million. The funds will be used to further develop and deploy its battery swapping system designed specifically for diesel heavy-duty trucks. Revoy’s technology enables partial electrification to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions without requiring a full powertrain replacement. The system underwent real-world testing by independent organization Mesilla Valley Transportation Solutions (MVTS) in August 2025, with results demonstrating significant fuel savings across multiple road conditions.

Revoy’s battery swapping system utilizes a 575 kilowatt-hour battery module installed between the truck cab and trailer, assisting propulsion via an independent drive axle. The system is fully compatible with existing heavy-duty truck equipment, allowing fleets to adopt it without any hardware modifications. MVTS conducted tests in New Mexico in August 2025 on a 41.1-mile standard route, revealing that trucks equipped with Revoy’s system achieved average diesel savings of 65.2% to 69.7%, improving fuel efficiency from 14.79 miles per gallon to 19.12 miles per gallon. These results confirm the system’s fuel-saving potential under real-world operating conditions.

Testing Across Multiple Terrains Validates System’s Fuel Efficiency

MVTS’s testing covered flat terrain, hilly routes, and roads with frequent acceleration and deceleration. The results showed that on completely flat terrain, Revoy’s system achieved a diesel savings rate of 90.4%, nearly matching the efficiency of fully electric operation. On routes with two uphill segments, the average savings rate was 65.2%; with one uphill segment, savings improved to 68.2%; and on gently rolling hills, the rate reached 69.7%. These findings demonstrate that Revoy’s system delivers consistent fuel savings across diverse terrains.

Dynamic driving conditions were also evaluated. During acceleration, the system improved efficiency by 27.9%, while deceleration saw an even greater improvement of 74.7%, indicating the effectiveness of its regenerative braking in energy recovery. Revoy states that its system can assist a fully loaded 36-tonne truck in traveling over 200 miles on a full charge while reducing diesel consumption by up to 95% and cutting emissions by 85%. Additionally, the regenerative braking feature shortens stopping distances by up to 30%, enhancing driving safety.

MVTS’s test report highlighted the high versatility of Revoy’s battery modules, which can be quickly swapped between vehicles without requiring any hardware modifications by fleets. This means existing diesel fleets can adopt the system without disrupting daily operations, achieving significant reductions in fuel costs. Unlike Tesla’s 2015 battery swapping trial, Revoy’s technology is specifically designed for heavy-duty truck operations and has been validated through real-world testing.

Fuel Price Volatility Drives Demand for Fuel-Saving Technologies

Revoy’s battery swapping system offers a cost-effective fuel-saving solution for the transportation industry amid soaring fuel prices. On July 31, 2026, PBS reported that diesel prices had surged by 63% year-over-year due to disruptions in global petroleum shipments caused by the U.S.-Iran conflict. This price volatility has significantly impacted diesel-dependent industries such as transportation and agriculture, compelling operators to seek more efficient fuel-saving solutions.

MVTS’s test report suggests that fleets can further enhance fuel efficiency by combining Revoy’s system with other energy-saving technologies. For example, installing trailer skirts, roof fairings, low-rolling-resistance tires, and tire inflation monitoring systems can further reduce fuel consumption when used alongside Revoy’s system. While Revoy has not yet disclosed specific pricing for its system, its partial electrification solution may offer a lower-cost and more rapidly deployable alternative compared to full electrification or complete vehicle retrofits. Although Revoy has not announced concrete plans for battery swapping stations, its business model demonstrates strong potential in the heavy-duty truck market, providing a new solution for fuel efficiency and emissions reduction in the transportation industry.
