Pricing and Pre-Order Timeline Announced
Ford revealed the starting prices for the Fathom EV pickup in the US and Canada on August 10. In the US, the base price is $28,350, excluding a $1,595 delivery fee. In Canada, the price is CA$38,690, which includes a CA$4,000 federal Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP) incentive. Ford confirmed that pre-orders for both markets will open in early 2027, with initial deliveries focusing on the standard-range model.
Ford emphasized that the Fathom EV pickup is positioned to compete at the heart of the affordable electric vehicle market and is expected to be one of the most competitive models in its segment. However, the final transaction price may vary due to optional equipment, dealer fees, and other factors.
Superior Interior Space and Innovative Features
The Fathom EV pickup offers more passenger space than the Toyota RAV4 and comes equipped with a range of advanced technologies. All models include a high-resolution touchscreen, digital key, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The vehicle also supports bidirectional charging, enabling vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) power capabilities.
One of the most notable features is that the Fathom will be the first production vehicle to integrate Apple Maps natively. The system will be embedded directly into the vehicle’s display, providing real-time traffic navigation, EV-specific route planning, and battery preconditioning. Ford also disclosed plans to leverage Apple Maps data to develop the next generation of BlueCruise hands-free driving technology, enhancing safety and convenience.
Charging Compatibility and Range Performance
All Fathom EV pickup models are equipped with a native NACS charging port, allowing direct access to the Tesla Supercharger network. Last month, observers spotted Fathom prototypes charging at a Tesla Supercharger station in the US, confirming charging compatibility. Additionally, every model is BlueCruise-capable, offering a more intelligent driving experience.
While Ford has not yet released official range figures, the company highlighted the vehicle’s focus on efficiency and aerodynamics, projecting a maximum range of 300 miles (approximately 483 kilometers). The standard-range model may offer slightly less range to cater to different consumer needs. Ford stated that official range data will be announced before pre-orders open in early 2027 and that an upgrade option for the 300-mile range pack will be available, though the upgrade price has not yet been disclosed.
The launch of the Fathom EV pickup underscores Ford’s aggressive expansion in the electric vehicle market and sets a new benchmark for affordable electric pickups. As the pre-order date approaches, market attention will shift to real-world range performance, charging efficiency, and delivery timelines, with expectations of a significant impact on the electric vehicle industry.
