EVgo and Tesla Launch Branded Supercharger Network

EVgo, a US-based electric vehicle (EV) charging provider, has announced a partnership with Tesla to deploy its own branded "EVgo Superchargers" in major cities across the country. These charging stations will be operated and maintained by Tesla and will utilize Tesla’s latest V4 Supercharger technology, capable of delivering charging speeds of up to 500 kW. Additionally, the stations will be equipped with Tesla’s Magic Dock system, allowing EVs with either CCS or NACS connectors to charge natively without the need for an adapter.

As of August 11, 2026, EVgo operates approximately 1,200 fast-charging stations across 47 states in the US. This collaboration is expected to expand the coverage and performance of its charging network. The newly deployed stations will feature longer charging cables to address the issue of insufficient cable length for non-Tesla vehicles, while the Magic Dock technology will streamline the charging process for different vehicle types.

CEO Highlights Charging Convenience and Infrastructure Expansion

Badar Khan, CEO of EVgo, stated, "EVgo is committed to making it easier for EV drivers to find convenient fast-charging options and to bringing more infrastructure choices to communities across America. Through this deployment, we look forward to welcoming more Tesla and NACS drivers to the EVgo network."

Tesla’s Supercharger network has long been regarded as the gold standard for public EV charging. This partnership is seen as a significant step for EVgo to enhance its service competitiveness. While EVgo will own and brand the charging stations, Tesla will handle operations and maintenance, combining the strengths of both companies’ market presence and technological capabilities to accelerate the adoption of high-power charging infrastructure.

Charging Standard Integration and Market Impact

The integration of Magic Dock technology will enable non-Tesla EV owners to use EVgo’s charging network more conveniently, further reducing barriers caused by differing charging standards. For EV drivers, the introduction of EVgo Superchargers means more high-power charging options, particularly in areas where Tesla charging stations are in high demand, helping to alleviate congestion at charging sites.

Specific deployment cities and a full timeline have not yet been announced, but EVgo has indicated that major cities will be prioritized. As both the V4 Supercharger and Magic Dock technology represent Tesla’s latest generation of products, this collaboration is also viewed as a key move by Tesla to further open its charging technology, aiding the broader adoption of the NACS standard.

The deployment of EVgo Superchargers is expected to enhance the overall performance of the US public charging network and provide EV drivers with a more seamless charging experience. As the EV market continues to grow, such partnerships are likely to accelerate the development and upgrading of charging infrastructure to meet rising demand.
