Partnership Background and Objectives
On August 24, 2026, ABB E-mobility and UK-based charging infrastructure provider SaveMoneyCutCarbon (SMCC) announced a partnership aimed at delivering a comprehensive charging solution to UK charging operators through ABB’s DC fast charging products and SMCC’s professional services. The collaboration will cover the entire process of charging station deployment, including site design, grid connection management, equipment installation, commissioning, software and back-office management, maintenance, and long-term operational support.
Navin Smart, Channel Account Manager for ABB E-mobility UK, stated that the partnership will provide UK charging operators with a “fully managed” solution from project design to long-term operation and maintenance. This approach is expected to reduce the complexity of deploying charging infrastructure and accelerate the expansion of electric vehicle charging networks. Smart emphasized that through SMCC’s localized services, operators will be able to deploy charging stations more rapidly to meet the growing market demand for fast charging.
SMCC’s End-to-End Services and Financing Solutions
As a certified channel partner of ABB E-mobility, SaveMoneyCutCarbon will be responsible for delivering end-to-end services for charging infrastructure deployment. Simon Blaaser, Head of Product and Partnerships at SMCC, noted that the company has the in-house capability to handle every stage of a charging infrastructure project, including design, grid connections, installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance, ensuring consistency and high quality in project execution.
Blaaser further explained that SMCC’s flexible financing options will help businesses and organizations transition to electric mobility with reduced financial pressure. He stated that combining SMCC’s professional services with financing solutions effectively lowers the barriers to deploying charging infrastructure, accelerating the adoption of electric vehicle charging networks across the UK. Blaaser emphasized that this initiative will enable more organizations to participate in the electric vehicle ecosystem with greater confidence and less complexity.
ABB’s European Channel Partner Mechanism and Service Quality Assurance
ABB E-mobility collaborates with a select group of channel partners across Europe to ensure consistent installation and maintenance standards for charging equipment. All channel partners must complete ABB’s onboarding and certification process to obtain authorization for equipment commissioning, maintenance, and service. This mechanism is designed to maintain service quality across markets and enhance the charging experience for end users.
The addition of SMCC strengthens ABB’s service network in the UK. Through this partnership, UK charging operators will gain access to technical support, financing solutions, and operational services through a single point of contact, streamlining the deployment and management of charging stations. While the partners have not yet disclosed specific targets, priority deployment regions, or the scale of the collaboration, the partnership is expected to have a positive impact on the UK’s commercial and public charging sectors.
ABB E-mobility has established similar channel partner systems in multiple European countries, leveraging localized services to enhance market penetration. This collaboration with SMCC not only demonstrates ABB’s strategy to deepen its presence in the UK market but also provides charging operators with more flexible business model options, further advancing the development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the UK. The partnership is poised to meet the UK market’s demand for high-performance charging solutions and support the long-term growth of the electric vehicle ecosystem.
